Monitoring of the Crimean salt lakes
Shaida V.G., Rudneva I.I.
Chemical parameters ( salinity, concentration of oxygen, nitrogen and pH) and concentration of heavy metals (Cu, Cd, Pb and Zn) were studied in three salt lakes: Saky lake, Konrad lake and Oiburg lake, located in the western part of Crimea. Salinity varied between 134 g/l and 259 g/l, рН ranged from 7.6 to 8.2. Nitrogen level varied between 240 mg/l and 180 mg/l. Concentration of Cu was estimated between 4.9 mg/l to 0.3 mg/l. Concentration of Pb varied between 0.177 mg/l and 0.04mg/l). Cd was determined only in Saky lake. Hatching rate of Artemia cysts in Saky lake was higher ( 33.3%), than in Konrad lake ( 8.3%) and in Oiburg lake (3.2%), which was explained the different conditions in examined water bodies
